Scholarships

 The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR) has scholarships available to qualified students majoring in any of its programs. CTAHR scholarship recipients are expected to donate several hours each semester in service-related activities.

CTAHR STAR System Scholarships

CTAHR has over $250,000 in scholarships for our students. By completing this one application, you will be matched to any of the numerous CTAHR funds for which you are eligible. Please note that each scholarship has different requirements, and that not all scholarships listed below are awarded each year.

To apply, go to the STAR website, search for "Andrew G. & Merle E. Hashimoto CTAHR Scholarship Fund". A list of scholarships for which you will be considered for will appear. This list excludes some departmental scholarships which you may be eligible for, see "Departmental STAR System Scholarships" below. 

Letters of Recommendation 

As a courtesy to your recommenders, it is advised that you request permission to use them as recommenders and advise them of the deadline to submit their Letter of Recommendation through STAR Scholarship Manager. You will need an email address from the recommender, and will then need to include the email address when the application is submitted. Examples of recommenders include past or present teachers/professors, employers, religious leaders, community leaders and organization leaders. Letters from relatives and friends will not be accepted.

  • The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarship support to students pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Studies within the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience. Funds shall be used for costs associated with attendance (e.g. tuition, books, fees, etc.).
  • The prospective recipient should be attending classes at UH Manoa and be a student of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.
  • The prospective recipient should have financial need not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines.
  • The prospective recipient should have GPA of 2.8 or above, preferred.
  • The prospective recipient should have a major of Human Development and Family Science.
  • The number and amount of award determined by the selection committee based on the availability of funds.
  • Recipients are eligible for scholarship renewal so long as all criteria are met and the recipients are currently enrolled at CTAHR.
  • The prospective recipient should have the following special circumstances of applying to college after gap year(s), returning adult students, or those who may have other special needs as self-identified in the application process.
  • Scholarship is open to international students.

  • The prospective recipient should be attending classes at UH Manoa.

  • The prospective recipient should be a student of the Human Nutrition, Food & Animal Sciences.
  • The prospective recipient should have the enrollment status of Full-time.
  • The prospective recipient should have the level of Undergraduate or Graduate.
  • The prospective recipient should have a major of Animal Sciences.
  • The prospective recipient should also have preference to students who intend to attend veterinary school as self-identified.
  • The prospective recipient should have the following special circumstances demonstrated community services, involvement in animal science community, and/or pre-veterinary program.
  • The prospective recipient should be from the specific region of priority shall be given to student from the island of Maui.
