The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience
The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR) is the founding college of the University of Hawaiʻi. Established in 1907 as the land-grant college for the state of Hawaiʻi, CTAHR has the unique mission of Academics, Research, and Extension.
The founding college of the University of Hawaiʻi, today CTAHR is the most diverse college in the UH system. Our six academic departments provide exceptional education in subjects ranging from agricultural sciences to child and family development, molecular bioengineering to fashion design and merchandising, natural resource management to human nutrition, entomology to pre-veterinary care, and many related areas of study.
As the land-grant college for the state of Hawaiʻi, we deliver knowledge and applied science for the benefit of the community. Through our Cooperative Extension, four centers, and county operations on Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island, we support and strengthen families, agricultural and food systems, and the natural environment.
CTAHR’s award-winning faculty researchers bring millions of dollars in study grants to CTAHR each year, which cultivate innovative scientific inquiry and solve real-world challenges that directly impact the Hawaiian islands, Pacific Basin, and communities around the world.
