Background/
Overview: |
HACD has been an active partner of the Polluted Runoff Control
(PRC) Program since the late 1980’s. Funds have been provided
to the HACD to assist the Department of Health in non point source
program development and implementation. |
| Objectives/Goals: |
To organize and convene statewide workshops and conferences on
non point source pollution, provide technology transfer, and support
implementations of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with other
state, federal, and local agencies and entities. |
| Methods Employed: |
• Worked with Hawaii Department of Agriculture to develop
an agricultural water resources plan for the state
• Provided information and education to the state legislature
• Organized and facilitated the Statewide Polluted Runoff Training Conference
held on November 20-21, 1998, which was attended by more than 120 people representing
federal, state, county agencies, educational institutions and community groups.
• Secured other federal funds to provide assistance to the local conservation
districts |
