Background/
Overview:
The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources team of agents and specialists are working to determine how nutrients from manures become available to crops and how nutrients are retained, released, and utilized when applied to tropical soils. Work is needed to get information to producers and to assist producers in developing site-specific, comprehensive nutrient management plans (CNMP).
Objectives/Goals: To more effectively deliver assistance for the creation of CNMP plans and facilitate BMP installation
Methods Employed: Develop a computer-based model to assist producers to complete individual nutrient management plans. Plan and coordinate a series of workshops to disseminate the planning aid to other producers and to provide an educational forum for on-farm successes, research results, technologies, regulations and other issues relating to livestock nutrient management.
