May 1998

The different groundcovers are starting to fill in 6 months after planting.  St. Augustine and Carpet grass were planted from vegetative pieces, while the Perennial Peanut was seeded at 40 lbs./acre.  The time for establishment would be reduced greatly if planted in the spring and allowed to grow during the warmer summer months.
Holes were augured where papayas are to be planted  and amended with fertilizer.  Plastic was used to reduce soil disturbance.
