In
accordance with the CTAHR Webpage Guidelines adopted by the Faculty Senate, each unit has
designated a "web coordinator" and has formed a "web committee".
The unit web coordinators sit on the CTAHR Web Committee whose charge is to work
with the units to encourage, facilitate and coordinate the development of webpages
under the CTAHR banner. The CTAHR Web Committee also helps to acheive consistency
across the unit web committees. The guidelines published here are the product of
the overall CTAHR Web Committee and is meant to facilitate the development of
web sites, encourage individual creativity and assure the quality of subject matter
content and presentation. Everyone publishing a site under the CTAHR banner is
obliged to abide by the basic guidelines set forth in this document.
- Unit
Web Committee
Identify
Unit resources
- Faculty (may belong to another unit) who are
available to help strengthen subject matter content and presentation on the web
- Available hardware (scanners, cameras etc)
- Available unit technical support
Review proposed web sites
- Keeping in mind the spirit of these guidelines,
the Unit Web Committee will review the proposed web sites to assure quality, accuracy,
timeliness, etc.
- Web Site Developer
Procedures:
- Faculty should consult these guidelines and those adopted by the University governing
the use of University network resources.
- The faculty member should submit proposed materials to their Unit Web Coordinator.
Things to keep in Mind:
- Include where-ever necessary, appropriate disclaimers
(i.e. non-endorsements for brand names)
- In designing forms to collect "audience" data,
keep in mind the Privacy Act and other federal/state rules which may prohibit the asking
of certain personal information.
- The "publishing or advertising" for commercial
entities is not allowed on University web servers
- For announcements of up-coming events, include a
Disability access statement:
For disability accomodations, contact ______(person)_____ at ___(phone#)___
by __(date)__.
To allow creative web development/design and yet
have sites readily identifiable as being part of CTAHR, the following is suggested:
- On the Opening page of each site:
At the top(or somewhere near the top) of the
page:
CTAHR
logo
Last Edited Date of page
At the bottom of the page:
The Webmaster email address
Unit's Postal Address and Phone number
Url of the opening page
- On the opening or secondary page of a Unit's web site,
the following information should be considered:
Faculty Information (incl. contact information)
Description of Courses/Degrees Offered
- On all pages (where reasonable) other than the opening::
At the bottom of the page:
CTAHR logo
Url of that page
