Why Enroll in Money 2000?

All of us spend money. Money flows in and out of our wallets and bank accounts whether or not we give attention to the process. When we make a decision to take control of our spending and saving, we can make better decisions about where the money goes and how we handle the money we keep. Money 2000 is a program that will help you to get started in developing new plans and to establish new money management skills so that you can more quickly achieve your financial goals.

Here is the place that you can learn about good money management practices, how to make a spending plan that will really work for you, how to keep good records, and even how you might invest some of your savings for additional earnings. By joining Money 2000 now, and sticking with it until the end of the year 2000, you will become better able to set financial goals and achieve them.

What to Expect

IF YOU JOIN AS AN INDIVIDUAL: 

  • You will receive:
    • An enrollment form asking for your name, address, phone number, enrollment fee of $10.00 and the goal you want to reach.
    • Money 2000 Newsletter-Introductory Issue.
    • Money 2000 Topics of Interest and Demographic Data Sheets.
  • When you return the enrollment form and fee to the Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service Office, you will receive information about keeping track of your progress towards your goal, and a Financial Planning Start-up packet.
    • Every six months you will be contacted and asked about your progress toward your goal.
    • You will receive the quarterly Money 2000 Newsletter, information about other optional classes, and your membership card.

IF YOU JOIN AS A FAMILY HOUSEHOLD:

  • You will receive:
    • An enrollment form for your family household.
    • Money 2000 Newsletter-Introductory Issue.
    • Money 2000 Topics of Interest and Demographic Data Sheets.
  • When you return the enrollment form and fees* to the Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service Office, you will receive information about keeping track of your progress toward your goals and a Financial Planning Start-up packet.
    • You will be asked to provide monthly financial education to family members.
    • Twice a year you will receive a form on which to record your family’s progress.
    • You will receive the quarterly Money 2000 newsletter, information about other optional classes, and membership cards for each member.

*A family household enrollment fee of $10.00 covers one family head of household and one family household member.  There is no charge for family household members who are 18 years old or younger.  Additional adult family members must pay an individual membership fee. Larger family households may consider joining as a group.

IF YOU JOIN AS A GROUP LEADER:

  • You will receive:
    • An Enrollment form for your members.
    • Money 2000 Newsletter - Introductory Issues for your members.
    • Money 2000 Topics of Interest and Demographic Data Sheets for your members.
  • When you return the enrollment form and fees of $5.00 per member** to the Hawaii Cooperative Extension Service office you will receive a Financial Planning Start-up packet for each member. You will also be notified of the time and place for Money 2000 Club Leader Training which you will need to attend.
    • You will be asked to provide monthly financial education to club members.
    • Twice a year you will receive a form on which to record your members’ progress.
    • You will receive copies of the quarterly Money 2000 newsletter to distribute to your members, information about other optional classes, and Money 2000 membership cards for each member.

**Group leader registration fee is waived.
