The Kulanui brand was developed by the University of Hawaii system as a tool to create awareness about all the exciting products students are creating in their respective majors.  The food products shown above were conceptualized and developed by food science and human nutrition students from this department.

Low Fat Papaya Curry Dressingdressing

When asked to develop new tropical food products, food science and human nutrition majors created a unique and tasty low fat salad dressing with Hawaiian and Asian ingredients and flavors. This curried product is made with a special blend of spices developed by students.

 

Papaya Curry Barbecue Saucebbq

When asked to develop new tropical food products, food science and human nutrition majors from the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources created a wonderfully unique barbeque sauce that combines Hawaiian and Asian ingredients and flavors. This curried sauce is made with a special blend of spices developed by students.

 

Oil Free Papaya Curry Dressingdressing

This oil free salad dressing was created by food science and human nutrition majors from the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources. This tasty fat free version combines Hawaiian and Asian flavors made with a special blend of spices - from concept to development.

 

Papaya Chutneychutney

When farmers harvest mature papayas, they accidentally harvest immature ones as well. These papayas will not ripen once picked off the tree. The University of Hawaii's Food Science and Nutrition students were asked to develop a product that would utilize these green papayas. They worked together and formulated this sweet chutney and continue to work with local farmers in efforts to find other sustainable solutions.
