BEST WISHES FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON
This is the final Dean's Notes of 2002. I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a peaceful, loving holiday season. If you are traveling, have a wonderful time wherever you go and come back to us safely. If you are staying put here in Hawaii, bask in the sun and enjoy the festivities.

It's hard to believe, but 2003 is nearly upon us. Let's all look forward to a year of challenges and achievements. Hauoli makahiki hou!

CONGRATULATIONS TO GRADUATES AND THEIR MENTORS
Sunday is graduation. Congratulations to all CTAHR graduates and the faculty who have worked with them to arrive at this momentous passage. We hope the education you have received at CTAHR will stand you in good stead in the years to come.

CATTLE INDUSTRY MEETING
The cattle industry meeting that was held on Wednesday, December 18, has produced lots of positive feedback. The meeting was convened to explore ways to move the industry forward. I'm convinced that the industry has the potential to be at the leading edge of improvement throughout Hawaii agriculture. Many of the presentations made will be available soon on the CTAHR web site.

As always in a meeting of this magnitude (more than 100 people attended an all-day meeting), many people are to be thanked for bringing it together. Thanks to Linda Cox, Jim Carpenter, Mike DuPonte, Glen Fukumoto, Harriet Iwamura, Arlene Garcia, Dale Uno, Doug Hamasaki, Elsie Kawamura, and Marvin Chun. Hope I haven't left anyone out.

MORE ABOUT RTRF FUNDS
Since the last Dean's Notes, Chancellor Englert has released the remainder of the RTRF (grant overhead) money, which means another $73,522 for CTAHR and a revised total of $305,831. Memos detailing the revised allocations will be sent to units within the week.

A GHOSTLY ALOHA
Hello, everyone. Jody Moore here, speaking as myself. Today is my last day at CTAHR. I have decided the time has come in my life to spend more time with grandchildren and traveling with my husband. I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to work with you and for you over the past nearly five years. During that time, I’ve worked with three deans in five legislative sessions. It has been fun, frustrating, stimulating, challenging—almost never boring. You are all engaged in some of the most important work in the state—even on earth. Never forget that. Aloha!
