Welcome to Oahu 4-H's online newsletter.
Hey everyone!
I just came home from our 35th Oahu 4-H Food Show at Pearl City High School’s Cafeteria and it was great. Once again there were many wonderful, delicious, and gorgeous looking foods and displays. I have never seen so much talent in one place like this. I think we may have some future culinary chefs in our 4-H organization. This year we had Stacie Kohashi who took Top in Show for the Junior Division and Sara Hashizume who took it for the seniors. Also, Stacie Nakashima took home a deserving $250 scholarship from Kraft and Hannah Wong won a $500 scholarship. Good job to all of them and everyone who participated. I would also like to thank everyone who helped with this year’s 35th food show; the Clover Kids, Pot of Gold, KPT Teens, Just Us, Farrington High school FCCLA, Warriors, Hawaii 4-H Alumni Association, Palisades FCE, Lynn Saito, Jeff Tom, and Uncle Walter Horikawa. This Food Show could never been a success without the help from everyone. Thank you.
Congratulations to all the Food Show participants for a job well done!
With enthusiasm, we welcome 2008 with new ideas to stimulate our volunteers and 4-H members. Nothing to lose, lots to gain. We can only make 4-H better! Bring propane burners with pot, electric frying pans, and woks/pots. We will choose our delights, blend them in harmony and emerge with a nutritious, delicious cuisine that we can marvel at. To top off the evening, a fabulous creation by – yours truly. The Constitution Committee of the 4-H Club Leaders’ Federation of Hawaii has revised the current Constitution and Bylaws and has proposed that the Federation adopt the revised Bylaws at the next State Conference scheduled for April 4-5, 2008 in Maui. The revisions were made so that the new Bylaws reflect what is currently being done, could be easily read, could be understood, are in proper order so that one can find things, are correct according to the Federation rule book RONR, and are in a modern and up-to-date language. The reorganizing of content and change of language does not affect anything that is currently being done within the Federation. To review the revisions or if you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail Bertha Kaui, Federation Constitution Chair, at bkaui@earthlink.net by February 29, 2008.
