Welcome to Oahu 4-H's online newsletter.
Hey 4-H'ers!
Wow, can you believe that we are almost through with this year? Soon we will be electing our new board members. I hope everyone can make it because this is one of the most important meetings that we ever have. If you are running or interested in running but were not present at camp, you can still run, but you must be present in order to be voted. This will also be our last council meeting with the present council board members. This month we had our Communications Fair. I would like to thank everyone who participated, the parents, Hannah Wong and her committee for making this event possible. I hope to see all of you at the meeting. This year is ending so fast, I really can't believe how fast time flies by!
I would like to thank all members and leaders who volunteered for the 4-H Fair on March 8, 2008 at the Urban Garden Center- KPT Teens and Girls Rock, Kapolei Explorers, Pot of Gold, Clover Kids, Just Us, Warriors and the military clubs. Thanks also to the Clover Kids, Pot of Gold and Just Us Clubs for their posters exhibiting their clubs' projects and activities. They were wonderful! Thanks also to Aunty Claire and Aunty Rose for coordinating the volunteers for the fair. Thanks, Dayna Domingo
We will be holding our executive board elections at this month's council meeting on April 20. Here are the current nominees for our executive board:
Just a reminder, all nominees must be present at the meeting. If you want to nominate someone for an office who isn't currently nominated, you can nominate them at the meeting, with your nominee present. Thanks, hope to see you there! Ross Shibata
This past year Oahu County 4-H program started with the year round school system. It was packed full of events and activities from the Executive Board retreat in July. The Oahu County Council with an active Board did five Island wide community festivals, had three major events— Fashion Show, Food Show and Communications Fair and not to mention a camp, the Centennial Fair at the Urban Garden Center and a car wash. It is still going full speed ahead with elections of the new board to be held this month, record books and the Achievement Banquet. This year we will be graduating 8 seniors. As we wind down the year, let’s continue to be involved with the program. We have three more months to go. Rose Saito

On March 30, 2008 we had our 1st 4-H car wash fundraiser and it was a successful event. It was held at the Kapolei K-Mart from 9am to 2pm. I would like to thank everyone who came out to help wash the cars and everyone who sold pre-sale tickets and those that gave generous donation to our 4-H Organization. Thank you again! We had a lot of fun maybe we can do it again next year… or maybe not. Brittany Chang
During spring break the military 4-H clubs held their annual 4-H Spring Fling. This year’s theme was a County Fair. During the event 4-H participants exhibited projects that were completed this year. The Music and Drama Club from Bennett Youth Center also performed to show off what they learned through their club work. Helemano Military Reservation, Bennett Youth Center, Aliamanu Military Reservation and Catlin Club House 4-H clubs presented exhibits. 4-H’ers were given the opportunity to speak with a judge to discuss their exhibit and discuss 4-H. After the festivities, the 4-H’ers participated in an awards presentation to recognize those that exhibited items, completed record books and those who participated in 4-H this year. Great job military 4-H’ers!
